Elimination Rounds Called ON At Oi Rio Pro Presented by Corona

The Oi Rio Pro Presented by Corona, Stop No. 8 on the World Surf League (WSL) 2022 Championship Tour (CT), is ON with the women’s and men’s Elimination Round in three-to-four foot waves with light offshore winds at Praia de Itaúna, Saquarema. The women’s Quarterfinals will be on standby.

Current rankings leader Carissa Moore (HAW) will be up in the first heat of the women’s Elimination Round against the event wildcard Sol Aguirre (PER). Moore stumbled in the Opening Round and will hope to bounce back and stay in the competition and hold on to the yellow jersey.

In the men’s Elimination Round, Griffin Colapinto (USA) will take on Miguel Tudela (PER) in the first heat. In a shock upset, Gabriel Medina (BRA) was relegated to the Elimination Round and will surf against Callum Robson (AUS) in Heat 7.

The WSL Tours and Competition team will reassess conditions as the day progresses and the women’s Quarterfinals are on standby.
